Under the terms of the MoU, KP Group will lead the technical and commercial development activities. This includes conducting feasibility studies, project design, financing, construction, commissioning, and long-term operation and maintenance of the renewable energy and storage assets. The scope of work is comprehensive, covering various aspects of renewable energy infrastructure development, which is crucial for enhancing Botswana’s energy security and positioning it as a clean power exporter in the region.

The collaboration is part of Botswana’s strategy to diversify its energy mix and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. The MoU highlights Botswana’s commitment to leveraging international expertise and capital to achieve its energy goals. The MoU was signed between Botswana’s Ministry of Minerals and Energy and KP Group, which includes KPI Green Energy Limited, KP Energy Limited, and KP Green Engineering Limited. The agreement also includes a provision for KP Group to support 30 scholarships per annum for Botswana citizens. These scholarships aim to foster education and skill development in renewable energy, engineering, and sustainability, contributing to local capacity building and knowledge transfer.
