Filed: April 1, 2026

Filing Summary

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) reported a significant milestone by adding over 5 GW of renewable energy capacity in FY26, bringing its total operational portfolio to 19.3 GW. This expansion is noted as the highest greenfield annual capacity addition globally, excluding China. The new capacity includes solar, wind, and wind-solar hybrid projects, primarily developed at the Khavda site in Gujarat. The company also commissioned 1,376 MWh of battery energy storage systems. AGEL continues to lead in India’s renewable sector, aligning with its target of 50 GW by 2030.

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has announced the addition of over 5 GW (5,051 MW) of renewable energy capacity in the financial year 2025–26. This expansion increases AGEL’s total operational portfolio to 19.3 gigawatts (GW). The company highlights this achievement as the highest greenfield annual capacity addition globally, excluding China.

The new capacity comprises 3.4 GW (3,409 MW) of solar energy, 0.7 GW (686 MW) of wind energy, and 1 GW (956 MW) of wind-solar hybrid capacity. The operational portfolio is expected to offset approximately 10 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually. The cumulative operational portfolio of 19.3 GW is projected to result in an annual carbon offset of 36 million tonnes.

Most of the new capacity was commissioned at the Khavda site in Gujarat, which is the world’s largest renewable energy plant under development by AGEL. The project spans 538 square kilometers. AGEL has installed a cumulative capacity of 9.4 GW (9,413 MW) at this site. The Khavda project utilizes advanced bifacial solar modules and 5.2 MW wind turbines. It also employs waterless robotic cleaning systems to enhance operational efficiency.

AGEL has also brought online 1,376 megawatt hours (MWh) of battery energy storage systems (BESS) at Khavda. This deployment is one of the largest single-location BESS installations globally and was commissioned within eight months of project commencement. The BESS supports grid stability and renewable integration.

The company aims to achieve a total capacity of 50 GW by 2030, aligning with India’s decarbonization goals. AGEL’s operating portfolio is certified as ‘water positive’, ‘single-use plastic free’, and ‘zero waste-to-landfill’. The company was ranked first in the Global Top 100 Green Utilities list for 2025 by Energy Intelligence and retained its position as India’s top sustainability performer in the power sector by NSE Sustainability Ratings and Analytics.
