SJVN Achieves 1 Billion Units at Bikaner Solar Power Project

SJVN Limited has announced the achievement of generating 1 billion units of energy at its 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project on March 20, 2026. The project is situated in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan and is operated by SJVN’s wholly-owned subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL). It was developed under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme – Phase II, Tranche III, facilitated by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India.
The foundation stone for the project was laid by the President of India on January 3, 2023, in Jaipur. The project achieved its Commercial Operation Date (COD) on December 24, 2025. It is projected to generate approximately 2,454 million units of electricity in its first year and about 56 billion units over 25 years. The project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 2.78 million tonnes during its operational life.
The electricity generated from the Bikaner project will be supplied to the states of Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand. The tariff for the project has been set at ₹2.57 per unit, ensuring the provision of affordable green power.
