Tata Motors Subsidiary Acquires 26% Stake in Traveltime E-Mobility

Tata Motors Limited, through its wholly owned subsidiary TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Limited (TSCMSL), has acquired a 26% stake in Traveltime E-Mobility Chennai Private Limited (TECPL). The acquisition was completed on January 8, 2026, with TSCMSL investing a total of ₹3,51,350. This investment involved the purchase of 35,135 equity shares at ₹10 each, at par value.

Following this transaction, TECPL has become an associate company of Tata Motors. The acquisition does not fall under related party transactions; however, post-acquisition, TECPL is considered a related party due to its new status as an associate company. The acquisition was executed through cash consideration, and no governmental or regulatory approvals were required for this transaction.

TECPL was incorporated on December 23, 2025, under the Companies Act, 2013. The company operates in the service sector, specifically focusing on the operation and maintenance of electric buses. TECPL has secured a tender from the Municipal Corporation of Chennai for the operation and maintenance of electric buses, aligning with Tata Motors’ business objectives in the e-mobility sector.

The acquisition is expected to be completed by January 31, 2026. The authorized share capital of TECPL is 50,00,000 equity shares of ₹10 each. The transaction aligns with Tata Motors’ strategy to expand its presence in the electric mobility sector through its subsidiary TSCMSL, which actively participates in tenders for electric bus operations and maintenance.
