Tata Power Renewable Energy Achieves 1 GWp Rooftop Solar Milestone

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Company Ltd, has achieved a milestone by installing 1 GWp of rooftop solar capacity in the first nine months of FY26. This represents a 127% year-on-year growth compared to the 444 MWp installed in the same period of FY25. The company added 1.7 lakh new customers during this period, marking a 345% increase in customer adoption compared to the previous year. Cumulative rooftop solar installations now exceed 3 lakh, translating into over 4 GWp of installed capacity nationwide.

Financially, the company has seen a significant increase in installations and customer base. The third quarter of FY26 alone saw 58,476 installations, adding 372 MWp of capacity, which is a 242% increase from the 17,092 installations in Q3 FY25. This growth underscores the company’s expanding footprint in the rooftop solar market across India. The states of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Telangana have been pivotal in this growth, with Maharashtra and Gujarat leading in cumulative installations.

Operationally, TPREL’s achievements span both residential and commercial & industrial segments. The company has onboarded 1.7 lakh new customers, bringing the total customer base to over 3 lakh. The installations in Uttar Pradesh reached 30,857 with an aggregate capacity of 128 MWp, while Maharashtra contributed 21,044 installations totaling 126 MWp. Gujarat recorded 18,907 installations with the highest capacity of 143 MWp, and Telangana added 14,622 installations accounting for 62 MWp.

The timeline for these achievements spans the first nine months of FY26, with significant growth noted in the third quarter. The company’s strategy has focused on expanding its presence across key states, with Maharashtra emerging as the leading contributor with 41,827 installations and a cumulative capacity of 855 MWp. Gujarat followed with 31,624 installations and a capacity of 525 MWp. Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh also contributed significantly to the company’s growth.
