Filed: December 30, 2025

Filing Summary

Ola Electric Mobility Ltd announced the government certification of its Roadster X+ motorcycle, powered by the in-house developed 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack. The certification, issued under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, allows Ola Electric to commence deliveries of the Roadster X+ in India. The motorcycle features a range of up to 500 km, addressing range concerns for electric vehicles. The certification follows extensive safety and performance testing. Ola Electric continues to expand its vertically integrated approach across its two-wheeler portfolio, reinforcing its position in the electric vehicle market.

Ola Electric Mobility Ltd has received government certification for its flagship electric motorcycle, the Roadster X+, powered by the company’s in-house developed 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack. The certification was granted under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989 by the International Centre for Automotive Technology (iCAT), Manesar. This approval enables Ola Electric to begin deliveries of the Roadster X+ in India, marking a significant milestone as it becomes the first electric motorcycle in the country to feature a completely in-house developed battery pack.

The Roadster X+ is equipped with a 9.1 kWh battery pack, offering an industry-leading range of up to 500 km. This range is facilitated by the high energy density and advanced thermal performance of the 4680 Bharat Cell technology. The motorcycle’s extended range aims to address range anxiety, making long-distance and inter-city riding more feasible beyond urban centers. The certification process included rigorous vehicle-level safety, electrical, performance, and environmental testing, as mandated by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for Battery Operated Vehicles in the electric two-wheeler category.

The certification of the Roadster X+ follows comprehensive validation, including tests for constructional and functional safety, range, gradeability, noise, electromagnetic compatibility, and braking performance. Additionally, the 9.1 kWh battery pack has received ARAI certification under AIS-156 Amendment 4, having passed stringent safety and durability tests such as water immersion, thermal runaway, fire safety, vibration, and mechanical shock tests. This reinforces Ola Electric’s focus on battery safety and robustness.

Ola Electric’s certification of the Roadster X+ extends the use of its 4680 Bharat Cell technology across its two-wheeler portfolio, including both electric scooters and motorcycles. The same battery platform will also support the Ola शक्ति model, emphasizing the company’s vertically integrated approach across cells, battery packs, and vehicle platforms. This development is part of Ola Electric’s broader strategy to build world-class electric mobility solutions from India, supported by its expanding manufacturing ecosystem.

The certification was issued on December 30, 2025, following the completion of all required testing and validation processes. The Roadster X+ is now set to be delivered to customers, expanding Ola Electric’s presence in India’s motorcycle-dominated market. The company’s vertically integrated approach and focus on in-house technology development are key components of its strategy to accelerate electric vehicle adoption in India.

Ola Electric Mobility Ltd is a leading manufacturer of electric vehicles in India, specializing in the vertical integration of technology and manufacturing for EVs and their components, including battery cells.
