Ola Electric Mobility Ltd has secured the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for its Shakti 9.1kWh battery pack, which is powered by 4680 Bharat Cells. The certification was granted in accordance with IS 16242 (PART1): 2025/IEC 62040-1: 2017 standards, following testing by a BIS recognized laboratory. This certification allows Ola Electric to proceed with the delivery of the Shakti 9.1kWh units starting at the end of January 2026.

The Shakti system is available in two configurations: a 3kW/5.2kWh model priced at ₹1,49,999 and a 6kW/9.1kWh model priced at ₹2,49,999. These systems are designed for residential use, providing features such as automotive-grade safety, high efficiency, and zero running and maintenance costs. The Shakti system offers an instant 0 ms changeover time and operates across a wide input voltage range of 170V-270V, protecting appliances from voltage fluctuations. The system is also spill-proof with IP67-rated batteries, tested for dust, water, and monsoon conditions.

The Shakti battery pack underwent a comprehensive set of electrical and mechanical safety-critical tests as part of the BIS certification process. These tests included short-circuit and overload protection, safeguards against fire and thermal hazards, protection from electric shock, environmental stress testing, sonic pressure hazard evaluation, and mechanical hazard assessment. The certification ensures that the Shakti system meets the required safety and performance standards for residential battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Ola Electric plans to make the Shakti system available through its website and stores. The 9.1kWh configuration will be delivered starting at the end of January 2026, while the 5.2kWh configuration will be available from mid-February 2026. The system is capable of powering air conditioners, refrigerators, induction cookers, farm pumps, and communication equipment, with fast charging times and a backup capacity of up to 1.5 hours on full load.
