The team took control of the situation on November 1, 2025, and initiated the removal of the damaged Blowout Preventer (BOP) from the wellhead. This high-risk operation was executed with precision and coordination.
Following the removal of the BOP, a pre-positioned capping stack was installed onto the wellhead. This installation redirected the gas flow securely to the top of the stack, ensuring full containment and control. The BOP was then successfully closed, effectively stopping the gas discharge from Well KSG#76.
The operation was conducted with the cooperation of the District and State Administration of Arunachal Pradesh, the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, and the local community. Their support was crucial in the safe and timely execution of the operation.
