Oil India and TotalEnergies Sign Deepwater Exploration Agreement

On November 19, 2025, Oil India Limited (OIL) and TotalEnergies signed a “Technology Service Agreement” in New Delhi. The agreement was executed to enhance strategic collaboration for exploration activities in deep and ultra-deepwater offshore frontiers of Indian sedimentary basins. The signing ceremony was attended by Sh Pankaj Jain, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, and other dignitaries.

The agreement establishes a framework to utilize TotalEnergies’ expertise in the deep and ultra-deepwater exploration value chain across OIL’s current and future offshore portfolio. It includes the ongoing appraisal program of a gas find in the shallow offshore blocks in the Andaman Basin. Additionally, it covers exploration in OIL’s OALP-IX ultra-deepwater blocks in the Mahanadi and Krishna-Godavari basins.

The collaboration also involves evaluating opportunities under ongoing OALP X and future bid rounds. It provides support during the stratigraphic well drilling initiative in offshore Category-II and III basins. This agreement marks a significant step in OIL’s exploration efforts in offshore frontiers.
