L&T Secures Order for Mumbai Metro Electrification Project

Larsen & Toubro Limited has announced the receipt of a significant order for its Transportation Infrastructure business. The order pertains to the electrification of the Mumbai Metro Line 4, awarded by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). The project covers a 24.72 km stretch from Bhakti Park (Wadala) to Cadbury Junction, featuring 22 elevated stations.
The scope of the project includes the design, manufacture, supply, installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of power supply and traction systems. Additionally, L&T will provide a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for the complete Metro Line 4 and 4A, which encompasses 32 stations, depots, and receiving substations. The work will be executed by L&T’s in-house design and execution team.
The project also involves electrical and mechanical works, as well as the installation of lifts and escalators for the 22 elevated stations and two depots. L&T will undertake five years of comprehensive maintenance as part of the contract. This order marks the third successive contract L&T has secured for the Line 4 and 4A corridor of the Mumbai Metro.
Previously, L&T won the order for Package CA-234, which involved rolling stock, Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling, telecommunications, platform screen doors, and depot machinery and plant for the entire corridor. Another order, Package CA-168, involved 19.5 km of ballast-less track works across 15 stations.
