LG Electronics India Limited has announced the launch of its 2026 Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) Star Rated Air Conditioners. This development positions the company among the first in the industry to introduce air conditioners that comply with the new energy efficiency standards. The launch is in line with the company’s strategy to provide consumers with access to advanced, energy-efficient cooling technology.

The updated BEE norms are designed to significantly reduce power consumption for households. Industry estimates suggest that upgrading to a new 5-star air conditioner under the 2026 norms can result in savings of approximately ₹19,000 over a 10-year period. This figure is contingent on usage patterns and tariff rates. The new efficiency standards have raised the threshold, meaning that a model previously rated as 5-star may now be classified as 4-star, reflecting a higher standard of efficiency.

The 2026 BEE compliant air conditioners are available in the market as of early January. This ensures that consumers purchasing air conditioners ahead of the summer season are not acquiring outdated technology. Key features of the new lineup include the Precool and Energy Manager+ functionalities. The Precool feature utilizes geo-fencing technology to ensure optimal cooling upon the user’s arrival home. Energy Manager+ analyzes usage history and recommends realistic operating hours and consumption, allowing users to set periodic budget targets based on these recommendations.

LG Electronics India is conducting a comprehensive awareness campaign across print, digital, and retail channels to educate consumers about the benefits of the new star ratings. The company’s manufacturing and supply chain operations are fully aligned with the new guidelines. While the focus is on the new 2026-compliant models, air conditioners manufactured under previous standards will remain available until existing stocks are depleted, providing consumers with purchasing flexibility.

Established in January 1997, LG Electronics India Limited focuses on various consumer electronics and B2B businesses, including home appliances, media entertainment, HVAC, and commercial displays. The company operates manufacturing units in Greater Noida and Ranjangaon, Pune, with the capacity to produce LED TVs, air conditioners, commercial air conditioning systems, washing machines, refrigerators, and monitors.
