GMDC Receives Environmental Clearance for Kutch Mine

Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd. (GMDC) has received Environmental Clearance from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for its Lakhpat-Punrajpur Lignite and Limestone Mine located in Kutch, Gujarat. The clearance was granted on 27 February 2026.

The mine has been approved with a production capacity of 3.0 MTPA of lignite and 29.81 MTPA of limestone. This regulatory approval is a significant milestone in GMDC’s growth trajectory, enhancing long-term production visibility and strengthening its mineral resource base within Gujarat.

The integrated development of lignite and limestone resources is intended to support core sectors such as energy generation, cement, and other mineral-based industries. This development aims to improve supply stability and reinforce GMDC’s strategic relevance within the state’s industrial ecosystem.

The approval reflects regulatory progress that enables GMDC to advance towards project implementation in line with statutory requirements. The Lakhpat-Punrajpur Mine is part of GMDC’s expansion strategy aimed at strengthening its reserve base and diversifying mineral streams.
