Engineers India Secures $350M Contract for Dangote Refinery Expansion

Engineers India Limited (EIL) has entered into a contract exceeding USD 350 million with the Dangote Group for the expansion of the Dangote Refinery in Nigeria. The agreement involves increasing the refinery’s capacity from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day. EIL will act as the Project Management Consultant (PMC) and EPCM Consultant for this expansion.

The expansion project includes the enhancement of the existing Polypropylene Unit and the installation of an additional Polypropylene Unit with a capacity of 1.2 MMTPA. A new 750 kTPA UOP’s Oleflex Unit will also be installed to supplement the Propylene feed to the Polypropylene Unit. The expansion aims to produce Euro VI grade fuels and increase Polypropylene production from 830 kTPA to 2.4 MMTPA.

This contract follows EIL’s previous involvement in the Dangote Refinery project, where it served as the PMC and EPCM Consultant for the initial 650,000 barrels-per-day facility commissioned in 2024. The Dangote Refinery, located in the Lekki Free Zone, is recognized as the world’s largest single-train refinery, producing Euro-V quality gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and polypropylene.
