ACME Solar Commissions 143 MW Battery Storage in Rajasthan

ACME Solar Holdings Ltd has commissioned a 143 MW / 481 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Rajasthan. This commissioning is part of the first phase of a planned total BESS capacity of 585 MW / 2011 MWh across its subsidiaries. The BESS is connected to the existing operational Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) and will function on a merchant basis, generating revenue through price differentials between peak and non-peak demand hours.

The BESS is designed to enhance grid reliability and optimize power utilization by charging during non-peak periods and discharging during peak demand periods. This system will eventually integrate with respective FDRE projects and continue under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for 25 years. The company’s current portfolio requires the installation of approximately 17 GWh of BESS in multiple phases across different states.

ACME Solar’s renewable energy portfolio spans 8,071 MW, including solar, wind, storage, FDRE, and hybrid solutions. The company has an operational contracted capacity of 2,966 MW and 481 MWh of BESS capacity, with an under-construction contracted capacity of 5,105 MW, which includes approximately 16.5 GWh of BESS installation. The under-construction PPA signed portfolio stands at 3,304 MW.
